Immanuel’s Lutheran World Relief quilting group meets the 1st Thursday of every month from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
This group began its work in 1991 – 31 years ago. For 2022, our shipment of quilts to LWR included 119 large quilts with a grand total of 9,625 shipped quilts since we began.
The group’s goal is to make these quilts for use in countries where people need help. They need warmth for sleeping, walls for shelter, flooring for tents, means for carrying their belongings, clothing, and dignity for burying their loved ones. Secondary goals have happened here at home – fabric often destined for the landfill has a purpose, friendships have started or been enhanced during the meetings, and participants have found self-worth.
We appreciate the fabric donations. We do not want clothing. Donations can be placed by the closet door in the fellowship hall.
Besides the fabric donations, we could use more hands on quilting day – the first Thursday in each month. There are various tasks that are easy to do and any training needed will be provided. A participant need not be there the whole day. Each task someone does, someone else does not need to do.
